The inaugural meeting of the BMC was held in the restaurant "Zur Therese" in Brunswick, on February 27th 1964. |

Nearby the restaurant "Sophienruh" the club grounds were locted at canal kilometer 210.8. The club's own crane with a rated capacity of 1.6 tons was - or better is - so rugged and robust that it is still working at the new location of BMC.

In former times, things had been easy. The "Wasserstraßenamt" issued a permission card and you could ride with your motorboat on the Mittelland Canal. But one day this comfortable situation was over. A recreational marine driver's license was required. And the BMC became a training school!
More and more members entered the BMC and the club grounds in Sophienthal became too small. In 1970 the Midland Canal was expanded by public construction. This offered the opportunity to build a proper sports boat harbor. As part of the canal extension the harbor site at 217.5 km canal was dredged - enough space for 18 berths.

Recreational water sports became increasingly popular and the number of BCM club members grew steadily. After 12 years, the end of the flagpole had been reached. An extension of the port basin was essential, but expensive. What to do? The club members made it possible to finance the expansion by private loan of money. The necessary construction permission was obtained and finally, work could be started.
|
| For two years, the club grounds became a construction site. The members had to work on their own. Lots of sweat flow like water to overcome the height difference of several meters between the ports base and the surrounding terrain. Huge quantities of soil had to be moved. |
 |
On May 1st 1982 the new harbor basin was opened. At the dedication ceremony no one was missing: the mayor of Brunswick, parliament deputies, senators, Water Police and representatives from the Wasserschifffahrtsamt - everyone wanted to appreciate the finished result. Among the guests yacht clubs from Abbesbüttel, Celle, Fallersleben, Lauenburg, Osnabrück and Uelzen were represented. Musically framed by the Fallersleber Chanty choir and the band and fanfare players from the fire brigade Räbke.

On May 14th 1994 BMC celebrated its 30th anniversary. The Braunschweiger Zeitung reported in detail:

|
|
In autumn of 1994, it was found that the water level had dropped dramatically. A smooth boat operation for the next season was in jeopardy. To reach again a water depth of 1.50 meters, drendge work had to be conducted in 1995.

Many club members had got fun on water sports. So it was not surprising that the boats got bigger. For the boating season 1998, some members the BMC desired longer berths. The company Tauchmeyer was asked tremodel some berths. In addition, four dolphins were pulled and rammed three dolphins and realigned. The now existing 39 berths could be occupied by larger boats.
Over time, the western bulkhead of the dock was so badly damaged by corrosion, that in 2003, a new sheet piling had to be set. At truly icy temperatures (floating peices of ice in the harbor basin) began the construction project.

| From 1998 to 2001 BMC applied for the 'Blue Europe'. This competition is organized by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe. This award for special achievements in the fields of environmental communication and protection is documented by a flag, which flew until 2001 over BMC. |
